INTERNET AND ITS INFLUENCE ON MODERN SOCIETY

Image
What is internet? The Internet is  a vast network that connects computers all over the world . Through the Internet, people can share information and communicate from anywhere with an Internet connection. The first workable prototype of the Internet came in the late 1960s with  the creation of ARPANET , or the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network. Originally funded by the U.S. Department of Defense, ARPANET used packet switching to allow multiple computers to communicate on a single network. How internet have changed the world? The Internet has turned our existence upside down. It has revolutionized communications, to the extent that it is now our preferred medium of everyday communication. In almost everything we do, we use the Internet. Ordering a pizza, buying a television, sharing a moment with a friend, sending a picture over instant messaging. Before the Internet, if you wanted to keep up with the news, you had to walk down to the newsstand when it opened in the mor...

POVERTY AND SOCIAL LIFE

Image
Poverty and its Causes in India There are many ways of defining and estimating poverty in a country, such as India. For example, the Tendulkar Committee in India based its calculations of subsistence level on the requirement of cereal, pulses, milk, edible oil, non-vegetarian items, vegetables, fresh fruits, dry fruits, sugar, salt & spices, other food, fuel, clothing, footwear, education, medical (non-institutional and institutional), entertainment, personal & toilet goods, other goods, other services and durables. Hence, as per Tendulkar Committee methodology, the national poverty line (in Rs per capita per month) for the year 2011-12 was calculated at Rs 816 for rural areas and Rs 1000 for urban areas. The participation of children or adolescents above the minimum age for admission to employment in work that does not affect their health and personal development or interfere with their schooling, is generally regarded as being something positive. These kinds of activities contribute to children’s development and to the welfare of their families; they provide them with skills and experience, and help to prepare them to be productive members of society during their adult life. The term  “child labour”  is often defined as work that deprives children of their childhood, their potential and their dignity, and that is harmful to physical and mental development. It refers to  work that : is mentally,...

ANIMAL POUCHING

Image
What is Animal Poaching and why is it being done? Poaching refers to the illegitimate hunting, capturing, and sometimes killing of untamed animals. It’s been in dire straits for a variety of reasons, as well as claiming the land for human use, however recently, the illegitimate act is being done for different ridiculous motives, particularly the will for rare animal products like ivory, fur, organs, skin, bones, or teeth. For instance, the rhinoceros has been hunted because some believe its horn has medicative worth. It is thus serious that these days, the rhinoceros is critically vulnerable with the Black Rhino’s population decreasing by 97.6% since 1960. Other animals, like the tiger are killed for his or her organs, pelts, and bones for medical and aesthetic reasons. The stunning truth is that these animal parts, that have created the animals prime target for poachers don’t have any evidenced medicinal functions. Poaching, however, isn’t solely regarding the killing of en...
